Gundersen Lutheran Health Plan offers a Medicare Advantage product called Senior Preferred. Senior Preferred is available to eligible Medicare beneficiaries who live in the Gundersen Lutheran Health Plan Senior Preferred service area. It is different from a typical Medicare supplement plan. If you choose Senior Preferred, you’ll no longer need a separate plan to fill the gaps in Medicare coverage.

Senior Preferred is available in four plan options, to meet your needs:
1.    Elite
2.    EliteD (includes Part D prescription benefits)
3.    Value
4.    ValueD (includes Part D prescription benefits)

Coverage varies between the four plans, but includes everything original Medicare covers, plus more. To learn more about the plan options, please refer to the documents below.

General features of Senior Preferred
  • Office visits, urgent care, and chiropractic visits are covered with a copay
  • Wellness benefits, including annual physicals, annual vision and hearing exams, annual gynecology exam and some immunizations, are covered in full
  • Full coverage for emergency or urgently needed medical services if you are traveling, with a copay of only $50 for emergency room services. This copay is waived if you are admitted to the hospital with the same condition within 1 to 3 days of the emergency room visit.
  • Senior Preferred has no waiting periods for coverage, no pre-existing conditions clause and no medical underwriting. Please note however, seniors with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) are not eligible for Senior Preferred. This provision does not apply if you are currently enrolled in one of Gundersen Lutheran Health Plan’s commercial programs.
  • All of our Senior Preferred plans include Gundersen Lutheran Health System providers as well as other local providers you know and trust. We continually strive to offer the best product at a competitive price for all of our members.
